About Us
THE CUTTING GARDEN
Land Acknowledgement: Botanique acknowledges that we are on the ancestral lands of the Coast Salish people, specifically the Duwamish Tribe, the first people of Seattle. As a business whose focus is growing, arranging, and teaching about flowers, our ties to the land are immense, obvious and meaningful. Everything we do is based on a relationship with the land, and each flower is a gift. With this gift comes the responsibility to steward well both our Cutting Garden and this region’s land, to learn about it’s history and people, and to stand with the Duwamish Tribe who have been here since time immemorial. We honor the land itself and the Duwamish Tribe for the innumerable gifts we receive daily from this beautiful place we call home.
The Botanique Cutting Garden lies at the heart of our work and philosophy. In this 800 square foot, backyard, urban garden, just steps outside of our South Seattle studio, we grow many of the flowers we work with in our designs. The Cutting Garden gives us an intimate connection with the seasons, and allows us to work with unusual and specialty flowers that are often unavailable in a conventional marketplace, or too delicate to transport. The most fragrant, life-filled, glowing blooms come out of the garden!

Practices
The Cutting Garden is also a place of experimentation where we try out new growing techniques and flower varieties. Using organic gardening methods, each year we learn more about small-space and intensive flower growing- and we are passionate about sharing this information so that more people can experience the joys of growing flowers in their backyards.
